Chicago Blackhawks Win the Stanley Cup!

June 10, 2010

Congratulations to the 5 hockey fans out there who actually care about hockey. Oh come on, we’re just kidding. Really, congratulations Chicago. It was a great overtime victory. 4-3 over the Philadelphia Flyers. (I don’t know why some people call them the Filthydelphia Flyers, Philadelphia Fans are the nicest folks)
Here is a ML-3000 template so you can make sure everybody knows that the Blackhawks won. Feel free to litter the office with them.
Wooooo Hoooooo! Yeahhhhhhh Baby!

Smoking Baby Cuts Back on Cigarette Habit

June 9, 2010

I don’t know if you’ve heard, but there is this two year old who smokes. I’m not sure where he is buying them. I mean if a two year old walks into a store and asks for a pack of Kool Menthol 100’s, it’s gotta sound funny. Nah, it’s gotta sound cute. But my guess is he’s swiping his cigarettes from his 5 year old brother. JK, I don’t know where or why this kid is getting his cigarettes from.

The problem is this kid is probably addicted. So cutting back is not good, he needs to quit.
Can someone throw this kid a pack of nicorette gum, or slap a patch on him?

Another problem is that if you’re addicted to buying Avery labels, you need to quit. They’re killing you man! You’re blowing all your money on labels you could be getting at less than half the price.

Using Open Office Word Processor

June 3, 2010

is easy as 1 2 3. I went to our templates page and opened up the Microsoft Word ML-3000 template directly in Open Office Word Processor. So have no fear, whether you need an ML-3000 template or equivalent, llke the Avery 5160, just open it directly in OO. You can see from the screen shot, I’m running Ubuntu in an Oracle Virtual Machine

You need to check out Oracle VM VirtualBox

June 2, 2010

It used to be Sun VirtualBox, but Oracle bought Sun. This is free software that you can download here. You can run this software on Mac or PC or Linux. After you install VirtualBox, you install whatever Virtual operating system you want on your host machine. So you can run Mac on a Windows Machine, a Mac on a Linux Machine, a Linux machine on PC or Mac. Performance is not bad either. I expected much worse even on a 2.4 Ghz Intel dual processor with 3 gig of RAM. I uploaded the latest release of Ubuntu which is awesomely easy to install and use.

So you can take Ubuntu for a serious test drive to see if you want to do a hard install on a hard drive. Discover all of the neat free and useful software that runs on Ubuntu. I installed the PiTiVi video editor which is very nice. I used it to splice together a couple of videos from a digital camera. Very nice.
OpenOffice comes with the Operating system by default. So you can print labels or whatever right after the install.

Can you believe it’s June?
