ML-0600 Shipping label Flourishes

August 9, 2010

I made a nice design in Inkscape with some flourishes. The ML-0600 shipping label is the perfect label to throw on some flourishes. Whether you’re sending out wedding invitations, or invitations to some sort of celebration, flourishes like the ones below can create the perfect label to show that the event is something special. And we all know how special anniversaries are, right guys? One of the secrets to a lasting marriage is to not only remember your anniversary, but to celebrate it in a meaningful way. So get your flourishes on and celebrate.

Shipping Label Art – Faded borders

August 3, 2010

When designing artwork for shipping labels, you might want to consider faded borders. Sharp borders on artwork can cause problems. If the labels are not lined up exactly on the label layout the uneven spacing can be unsightly. The closer the artwork to the edge of the label, the worse the problem can become. One solution to this problem would be to make the artwork near the edges of the label to be faded. Below is an example of faded edge artwork created in the Gimp. It’s in Gimp format, so you’ll need Gimp to view it.

And you can stick that directly into Microsoft Word. The faded borders make it a little easier to line up on the label. The mistakes are harder to see than if you had hard edges.

Independence day is this weekend

July 2, 2010

We celebrate our nations Independence from England on July 4th 1776. It was about this time that with the introduction of glass bottles and the multiple varieties of wine being produced, there was a need to identify wines for their origin and their quality. This is the best explanation of the birth of the modern label. Not only of the modern wine label but labels in general. So here at not only do we celebrate the birth of a Nation at this time of year, we celebrate the birth of an industry.
Here’s an ML-0600 template for the 4th of July.

It’s Bloomsday

June 16, 2010

Yup, that’s what I said, “What’s Bloomsday?”. Well, people across the world come together to celebrate “Ulysses“, the James Joyce classic, and they call it Bloomsday after one of the characters, Leopold Bloom, and because the whole book takes place in one day on June 16, 1904. No, not that James Joyce.
I’m gonna have to come up with some special days for labels. As a matter of fact, I’m gonna call June, ML-0600 month. The only reason I can think of making it ML-0600 month is because it has a 6 in it.
June is ML-0600 Month!, ML-0600 is same layout as Avery 5164

Use our ML-0600 in lieu of Avery 5164

May 28, 2010

I found this other wordpress blog that has a bunch of shipping labels in the form of Avery 5164 templates that look very helpful when you’re packing up boxes and getting ready for a move. The only thing is, they only mentioned Avery 5164, no mention of our ML-0600. At you can get the same layout in our ML-0600 labels, the same quality for a fraction of the price.

Thank God it’s Friday

May 7, 2010

Wow, Thursday was not good. We’ve got oil spills getting bigger and bigger threatening the whole southern coast of the United States. We’ve got a huge romaine lettuce recall, and a bunch of people really sick from it. And on Wall Street, the NYSE took a giant plunge yesterday, the biggest same day plunge in history. Nobody want’s the blame for that one either.
Thank God it Friday, and that we have programs like Inkscape to help us create artwork. I think I’m gonna have to re-do all of our labels with Inkscape. Yet another ML-0600 template.

Here’s a generic ML-0600 template. It took a few minutes to create the jpeg in the GIMP.

I made the Graphic in Inkscape, which is powerful and free.
Here is the artwork.
Here is the document in Open Office format. It’s also free. It’s not that I’m cheap, it just that these programs are fantastic and useful.
The layout is the same as Avery 5164.

Presidential Fun

January 5, 2010

Did you ever get the feeling that when someone becomes President, the differences between them and the previous presidents are much less that originally thought. Using GIMP the fantastic, and free image manipulating program, check out our president, George Obama, or is it Barack Bush:

President George Obama

He’s got the eyes, nose and hair of George Bush, and the rest is Barack Obama.
If you are an artist, or just like to mess around with pictures, download the GIMP and be prepared to spend a whole lotta time having fun. The possibilities are endless. We use it for all our template artwork
