SVG is cool. ie. Inkscape is cool

June 17, 2010

If you don’t know anything about SVG, know this, it’s different than raster graphics, and stuff like bitmaps or jpgs or gifs. With SVG, you can zoom in on an SVG graphic without loss of detail. Ever try to stick a jpg graphic into a document and then resize it only to discover afterwards that the graphic has become pixellated, or fuzzy? With Inkscape (It’s FREE), you can make a little freehand drawing, then scan it, and convert it to an SVG and use the “Trace Bitmap” in the Path menu to convert the graphic into a path. Once that’s done, you can resize it without loss of detail.
Check out what I did with this little decorative swirl for an ML-3000 in inkscape.

Notice even when you zoom in on the SVG, the quality is still high.

Chicago Blackhawks Win the Stanley Cup!

June 10, 2010

Congratulations to the 5 hockey fans out there who actually care about hockey. Oh come on, we’re just kidding. Really, congratulations Chicago. It was a great overtime victory. 4-3 over the Philadelphia Flyers. (I don’t know why some people call them the Filthydelphia Flyers, Philadelphia Fans are the nicest folks)
Here is a ML-3000 template so you can make sure everybody knows that the Blackhawks won. Feel free to litter the office with them.

Happy 420 Day

April 20, 2010

It’s 420 day today. We don’t advocate fully celebrating 420 Day. For real happiness, you need to be wise in your life decisions. For your label purchasing decisions, consider our ML-3000 labels. They’re compatible with the Avery 5160 labels. They won’t give you the munchies, or get you arrested, but they’ll get you high on savings and quality.

There’s a little Irish in everyone?

March 1, 2010

That how the saying goes. Well I’m not sure about that, but since St Patricks day is coming fast, you might have some use for a St Patricks day themed label. Here’s one. It’s for the ML-3000.

Happy New Year … again

December 30, 2009

Sad to see 2009 go, but I think 2010 will be better than 2009. It pretty much has to.
So here’s another Happy new year label.

Manipulating Graphics in Word

November 23, 2009

Have you ever placed graphics in a word document, and formatted it so that the graphic appears behind the text, and then you can’t figure out how to select it? Well, you can select the clip art. Here’s how. Select the Home tab at the top left. Then select “Select” all the way on the right. It’s right under Find and Replace. Then select “Objects”. Once you do that, you’ll see you can click on and manipulate the graphics. I just used this to select a graphic in one of our Avery 5160 Equivalent Laser labels, at .
Here’s an example of graphics on a label layout:
